The Oklahoma City Thunder punched their ticket to the Western Conference Finals after a dominant 125-93 blowout over the Denver Nuggets in Game 7. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again led the charge with 35 points on 63% shooting, but postgame, the MVP conversation sparked an unexpected twist.
Chet Holmgren walked off the court shouting, “You know who this is? The MVP,” in reference to SGA. But NBA fans quickly pointed out another hero: Alex Caruso. The guard dropped 11 points, played lockdown defense, and ended the night with a game-high +40 in 26 minutes. Even Kendrick Perkins chimed in, saying the real Thunder MVP was Caruso.
While Gilgeous-Alexander dazzled as the offensive engine, Caruso’s relentless energy and poise were undeniable. OKC now preps for a tough Western Conference Finals clash with the Timberwolves, starting Tuesday at the Paycom Center. And don’t be surprised if Caruso’s name stays in the MVP talks.
