Shakur Stevenson Stands by Claressa Shields Amid Tensions With Jake Paul & MVP Promotions

Another day, another chapter added to the rivalry of Claressa Shields and Jake Paul. The duo has been at each other’s throats for a while now, and their verbal jabs have turned into public spectacles. The tension intensified after MVP’s recent press conference last Wednesday in New York when GWOAT’s former friend, now foe, Alycia Baumgardner, the newest signing of MVP, extended an offer to Shields while standing alongside Nakisa Bidarian.

Bidarian promised Shields the “biggest payday of her life.” The catch? It will be on MVP and The Bomb’s terms. Expectedly, the three-division undisputed champion wasn’t fond of the idea. The Boxing IQ, a popular YouTube boxing channel, recently released an in-depth video supporting Shields’ stance and criticizing MVP and Baumgardner for their approach. The video soon went viral, prompting Amanda Serrano to jump in to defend her promotion and her new stablemate. “Sincerely @MostVpromotions & @alyciambaum aren’t looking to disrespect anyone. As a team we are doing huge things & wish Claressa & anyone else not part of us all the best. Making a fight offer isn’t us disrespecting her in any way. We want to be part of the Biggest & best events,” Serrano wrote while replying to the video.

However, the move backfired, and the situation escalated as Claressa Shields fired back, accusing Serrano, Baumgardner, and MVP of not taking responsibility for their own actions. In a heated post, she wrote, “You, MVP & Alycia love throwing rocks & hiding y’all hands. Just leave me tf alone! Your stupid ass promoter Nakisa stay tweeting saying false stuff 24/7 like I won’t expose the truth! They came in the game hating!”

The undisputed heavyweight champion also called out MVP’s obsession with her and why they keep on dragging her name into every conversation. “Fight each other! Yall are closer in weight! 10 pounds ain’t it!?” she added, taking a dig at Bidarian’s previous statement where he dismissed the idea of the Shields-Baumgardner bout because of the massive weight difference.

Claressa Shields’ protest fell on deaf ears, as a fan, @jayisbakk took it as complaining. The user wrote, “you always complaining bro damn,” forcing the WBC lightweight champion to enter the saga. Shakur Stevenson replied to the post, “She a knock u right out ,” showing his support for the GWOAT of women’s boxing.

While the Claressa Shields-MVP rivalry has gone way past proportions than anyone thought it would, no one knows what exactly started this bad blood. Well, finally we have got an answer from T-Rex’s own words.

Claressa Shields accuses Jake Paul of stealing her identity

In a candid interview with Fight Hub TV a few weeks ago, Shields opened up about her recently overturned marijuana-related drug charge. She also gave her two cents on the upcoming Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano bout, before dropping a bombshell. “Jake Paul don’t like me, I don’t like him,” she stated bluntly.

Shields believes that Jake Paul has never given her the flowers she deserves. “He’s never given me props since he came in the game,” the 16-0 fighter shared. While she couldn’t care less about The Problem Child’s validation, what pushed her was the fact that Paul stole the title she had built herself.

“He tried to steal my name and gave it to Amanda Serrano when I built that name up,” she declared. She further clarified, “I am the name. I have the accolades for it,” referring to her self-proclaimed moniker “GWOAT” (Greatest Woman Of All Time). The Flint native made the acronym famous. However, a few months ago, MVP posted a picture referring to Serrano as the ‘GWOAT.’

It rubbed Shields the wrong way as she stated, “You’re trying to come and just give her my sh-t and just say like, ‘Forget me. I don’t matter. She’s the GWOAT. She’s the real GWOAT,” looking visibly frustrated. To be clear, despite getting in a verbal spat with Serrano over the issue, she respects the latter and holds no grudge against her. “I already had shared the title with her willingly. Already because she fought at the smaller weight classes,” she stated.

However, for her, the move by MVP and Jake Paul seemed like an attempt at trying to erase her legacy, something she won’t sit by idly for, and is a reason why we might never see Claressa Shields working with MVP. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts down below.
