Shakur Stevenson vs Gervonta Davis Contract Situation Takes Ugly Turn After Controversial Disclosure

As much as it sounds like a necessity, it’s started giving glimpses of a mirage. We’re talking about the Shakur StevensonGervonta Davis standoff. For a title unification, the two lightweight champions need to fight. But so much back and forth has happened that even the most diehard fans find the situation a bit perplexing. To most, it appears Stevenson eagerly anticipates the fight. But frequently questioning the WBC champion’s resume, Davis has largely remained noncommittal.

The back and forth primarily restricted itself to the online landscape, in interviews, and in press conferences. It’s my word against yours. It lacked substantiation, or at least a semblance of it, to reveal the level the talks for a fight reached, if at all there were any. Reports suggested that Gervonta Davis had purportedly sent a contract to Team Stevenson. Understandably, the latter denied the claim. With a new revelation, however, it may appear they weren’t all together off the mark.

Shakur Stevenson: Hate to say I told you so, but… I told you so!

So where all the hating n****s that ran wit that false narrative?” sounding furious, Shakur Stevenson asked. He added further, “Y’all fav fighter was low-key co-signing that sh*t.” For obvious reasons, his outburst was targeted at the skeptics who have been criticizing him and perhaps spreading a misleading story. It’s something even their favorite fighter (meaning Gervonta Davis?) subtly supported.

So where all the hating niggas that ran wit that false narrative and yall fav fighter was lowkey co signing that shit https://t.co/PudoYPZYGM

The harangue followed a tweet that read, “ SO ALL THAT SENT A CONTRACT FROM TANK DAVIS TEAM WAS A LIE @ShakurStevenson WAS RIGHT SHOW THAT MAN SOME RESPECT !!!.”

Did the post feature a picture/video? But it seems to have been deleted: “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.” While responding to a user, the Twitter account holder acknowledged it, “The owner took it down man, they pissed.

However, a short video featuring former Showtime Sport President Stephen Espinoza, who joined PBC last year, suggests Shakur Stevenson’s wasn’t barking up a wrong tree. In mid-January, a tweet displayed a purported message from Gervonta Davis. The message read, “N****s sent him a contact; he went elsewhere… get off my d**k, you d**k eater.”

Making a big deal out of nothing?

Later, during a conversation with Naji Chill, Stevenson denied the claim. He asked, “No cap, no cap, if he sent me a contract, tell him to post that contract. Post that contract he sent me. That’s what I want to see.

Stephen Espinoza said Gervonta Davis NEVER sent Shakur Stevenson a CONTRACT

When asked about the contract thing, Stephen Espinoza mentioned, “There was never a contract. I never said there was a contract.” He acknowledged that there were early-stage talks with PBC but stressed that these discussions never progressed into anything serious. “The reality is it never went anywhere near a contract,” he reiterated. Some minor conversations took place, but Espinoza insisted it wasn’t serious and that no one should be accused of wrongdoing.

Gervonta Davis has already stated that he wants to remain active this year. He’s staring at three showdowns. With the first one concluding tonight, there’s still some space left to make a mega fight like the one with Shakur Stevenson before he finally hangs up the gloves.

Do you think Gervonta Davis should finally agree to a Shakur Stevenson showdown?
