Shedeur Sanders’ Draft Pitch Goes to Waste as CFB World Refuses to Put Faith in Him

Even before the 2024 season had dropped the curtains, two names were projected to reign in the NFL Draft. That’s none other than the Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders and Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward. While Ward is still riding high in the narrative, Shedeur’s hype train wheels have started to fall off. Deion Sanders’ son’s draft stocks have hit rock bottom. But so what? That did not rob away the Buffs QB’s confidence.

Instead, Shedeur came up with a draft pitch to woo his NFL suitors. But just like a high-pressure unpredictable game, things didn’t go as planned. Forget the pro league scouts, his words came off as a fake promise to the fans as the CFB world bashed the QB in the comments.

Shedeur Sanders takes the self-promotion route following draft stock mishap

Now even in their wildest dreams, the Buffs fans might have not thought that things would turn out to be this way for their prized quarterback – Shedeur Sanders. His draft stocks did become a talking point one month before the 2025 NFL Draft. However, not for the right reasons. On March 12, CBS Sports analysts duo Ryan Wilson and Josh Edwards landed Shedeur a punch in his gut. Going by their projections, the Buffs QB will not be within a Top 10, or a Top 20 but a Top 30. Yes, you read it right. Top 30. However, Shedeur has turned dead ears to all the noise. On March 13, he posted a video of himself on his YouTube channel, 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders.

The QB might have thought a lil bit of self-promotion won’t hurt. In the video, he starts with the question of what the team is going to get if they sign him up. To which Shedeur sounded all confident and replied, “Well, one, the experience is there. Let’s just get that out – the experience is there. I change for what these teams are trying to do – take a team that’s not so good and and change it and have instant success. That’s all I’ve been doing for the past years of my life since I’ve been playing.” Shedeur has been following his dad everywhere Coach Prime went. First, he was at Jackson State from 2021 to 2023. He led them to an undefeated regular season in the SWAC and captured the conference title.

He continued, “We always wasn’t in the best situation team-wise. But we always made it work and got the most out of it. So that’s the thing like I done it repeatedly over and over.” Maybe he was hinting at his Buffs’ chapter. As a team, they started with 4-8 in 2023 and then wrapped the last season with a 9-4 overall record. Maybe being part of this hustle and bustle did instill a fighting spirit within Shedeur. “Whatever franchise draft me. They’re going to be extremely happy. They made that decision because the experience and I know what it’s going to take for us to be able to have immediate wins. So that’s what I’m able to guarantee.”

Shedeur went from being the most sacked player in college football history with 52 sacks in 2023 to coming up with 4134 yards and a 74% completion rate in 2024. But fans are having a tough time following his lofty promise.

Fans are not holding back while predicting Shedeur Sanders’ NFL fate

Well, can they be blamed for not trusting the QB? Definitely not. After all, NFL scouts have spotted multiple red flags in the Buffs QB. “Shedeur Sanders is reportedly being placed behind Cam Ward on several team’s boards now due to ‘off-the-field/attitude’ concerns.” That’s because the Miami QB has given his all to the sport. Whereas the Buffs QB had to part it with his other passions like rapping and his love for watches ultimately ends up in boasting. Meanwhile, the Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter too caught the hype bagging a Big Ten-high 24 tackles for loss. So a fan believes that Shedeur will not even stand a chance. “Ward or Carter. Those are the options. Take the best available don’t settle.”

Forget Shedeur’s own talent. The big turn-off for him is his father Deion Sanders. After all, being the overprotective father that Coach Prime is he has already struck off the programs that he would not want his son to join. “Does he know that a line of top end recruits aren’t following him this time because of his dad being the coach?.”

Already there have been enough concerns about Shedeur’s inability to make accurate throws into tight windows as pointed out by Urban Meyer. Shedeur faced pressure on 37% of his dropbacks last season. So, in no way the Buffs QB is going to make 2025 his year. “Bottom 5 talent on offense, bottom 5 play caller, there isnt a rookie in history of nfl that could make this yr good”

Given Shedeur’s personality, known for his off-field shenanigans and ruling the NIL market, it’s difficult to believe that the player is giving his everything to the sport. On that note, a fan dished out a brutal comment, “Talking a WHOLE LOTTA S- -T .”

Looking at Shedeur Sanders, a fan is reminded of the former Texas A&M dual-threat QB Johnny Manziel. He too tried hard to promote himself but at last got selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 22nd overall pick. Forget going after Ward or Carter. The fan believes his turn will come after the Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart. “Haha.. Manziel tried to sell himself hard 2.. you will slide down and down and down until someone takes Dart ahead of ya.. you will go after him… 1 thing i didnt hear is a good teammate.” Will Shedeur fold under pressure or deal the ultimate UNO reverse?
