Simone Biles Receives Heartfelt Demand From Gymnastics Community as Retirement Rumors Continue to Loom

Is Simone Biles ever going to return to the gymnastics world? That’s the one question that the entire fanbase has been asking ever since the 11-time Olympic medalist took a break following her win at the Paris Olympics. Needless to say, the fans are missing the action that the queen of flips brought to the gymnastics stadium. Is it her infamous Biles II that the fans are missing?

What the fans currently miss is Simone Biles’ performance on the vault at the 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Doha. An account on X (@yuhangyuan_) shared a four-second video with the gymnastics world, featuring the Columbus-born athlete performing a half twist on the vault table, followed by two forward flips in a piked position before landing on the mats. The caption to the X post read, “Simone’s half on double front in pt from side angle.”

A clear indication of the gymnastics community missing her and wanting her back on the floor.

But as of now, the return of the Olympian is in uncertain waters. During a conversation with Sports Illustrated, Simone Biles confessed that she has already accomplished so much. Her collection of 41 medals includes 7 Olympic golds, 2 Olympic silvers, and 2 Olympic bronze medals. According to her, there’s almost nothing more left for her to do in the sport. And now, she’s “humble enough to know when to be done.” The 28-year-old star also weighed in on the consequences of her return. And that meant sacrificing something that she seemingly loved more.

So, what are these consequences? The consequences include time away from her husband, Jonathan Owens, and missing out on the chance to start a family. Previously, the competitions usually meant missing out on proms and college classes. But now, the stakes might be a bit heavier for Biles.

Still, her absence at the 2025 Xfinity Gymnastics Championships led to thousands of empty seats at the Smoothie King Center. And it seems like she’ll remain absent from the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships. So, the community cannot help but notice the void.

But the question is – Will Simone Biles be absent from the LA Olympics as well? Let’s hear it out from the greatest flip artist in women’s gymnastics herself and see if she’s serious about retirement from the sport.

Simone Biles weighs in on her retirement stance

Not too long ago, The Olympics shared a video through their X profile. This video featured Simone Biles, who confessed, “I think as athletes, you always want to end up on top, and it be your choice when you end. Paris was such a special moment. Of course, you have some that want to go back and repeat that success because you get really hungry for it, and you know what that feels like, and you know what you’re capable of.”

Rising from episodes of vertigo to winning the Olympic Games and becoming one of the favorite athletes in the sport, Biles has indeed come a long way. But that doesn’t mean she’s oblivious to the changes in her body that came with the rise in age. She continued, “I want it to be my choice when I’m done. I don’t want the doctors to be like, ‘Hey. You can’t. Move on.’ I think for a lot of elite athletes, it’s never their choice when they get to be done. I’m grateful if this was the end that I got to choose my ending.”

Nevertheless, there’s still hope for us to witness the dominating style of Simone Biles at the next Olympic Games. Why? Because her hometown, Los Angeles, will host the 2028 Olympics. And she wouldn’t really want to miss out on outshining the competition in her home ground, would she?
