Remember the balloon imprinted with “I love you” that Frances Tiafoe gifted to his girlfriend Ayan Broomfield on Valentine’s Day last month? It was adorable, right? And what about Tiafoe’s playful comment on Broomfield’s dazzling look at the WTA Rally the World event? Well, we can go on and on, talking about numerous instances where this power couple has flooded each other with love. And, guess what? Fans had an up-close look at their romance again when Broomfield wowed at the Oscars Party. Big Foe, as always, just couldn’t help but melt.
Frances Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield’s love story began in 2015 when fate brought them together at the start of their respective professional careers. At the time, the American had just turned pro, still striving to make his mark on the ATP tours, while Broomfield was competing professionally, reaching a career-high ranking of 467th seed in women’s doubles.
Despite the challenges of living on opposite coasts because of their demanding career schedules, their bond remained strong. In 2020, Broomfield earned her degree in women’s studies from UCLA and decided to settle in LA, and ever since, she has been one of Tiafoe’s biggest supporters, standing by his side as he continues to rise in the tennis world. And now, just days before making his mark at the BNP Paribas Open circuit, Tiafoe couldn’t hold back his admiration as he shared his heartfelt reaction to Broomfield’s breathtaking photoshoot.
The Canadian graced the 33rd annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party at West Hollywood Park, a star-studded red-carpet event that brings together icons from film, music, and sports to support HIV/AIDS education. Once a tennis professional and now a fashion influencer, Broomfield effortlessly blended her athletic roots with her chic, style-forward persona. Dazzling in a stunning ‘silver ensemble’, she captivated onlookers with her sleek ‘silhouette’ and ‘intricate’ detailing. Golden accents, from an elegant ‘bracelet’ and ‘bangles’ to shimmering earrings and silver heels, added the perfect touch of glamor to her show-stopping look.
The Canadian posted a couple of pictures on Instagram, mentioning the person behind her attire, writing, “wearing archived @tomford !! Styled by the incredible @kjmood Jewlery @levian_jewelr Heels @ingiliz_official Hair @lovetaij Makeup @makeupbyashsimmons @cloudnai.” And, right after she posted, her beau re-shared the post on his IG story, writing, “@ayan.broomfield .”
Well, this isn’t the first time the American pro has openly expressed his love for his lady love. Just a week ago, Broomfield, the former ‘NCAA Division I’ doubles champion, dropped a series of breathtaking photos on her IG, rocking an all-black ensemble with the caption, “back to blackkkk in Aspen .”
The post instantly went viral, drawing a flood of likes and comments from her fans. But what was the most heartwarming reaction? Of course, it was from Tiafoe, who let his emotions do the talking with three heart emojis,’ a simple yet powerful tribute to his stunning and talented girlfriend.
And it’s not just a one-way traffic. Tiafoe has also got Broomfield’s through thick and thin.
“We don’t just talk about it on the surface level.” Ayan Broomfield on being the support for her beloved
Frances Tiafoe’s 2024 US Open run was nothing short of unforgettable. The American fought his way to the SF, captivating fans with his thrilling shot-making skills. However, his journey came to an end in a grueling five-setter against compatriot Taylor Fritz, who eventually finished the tournament as the runner-up.
However, one of the standout moments of Tiafoe’s campaign was his intense QF victory over the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. Following that triumph over Grigor, Broomfield offered a rare glimpse into their companionship, shedding light on how her tennis background helps her support Tiafoe both on and off the center court.
Speaking with Essence Magazine, she said, “I think for me, I’m blessed to have a tennis background. So when he’s going through things, we don’t just talk about it on the surface level like, ‘You can win next time.’ We’ll actually sit down, work together, and break down what’s going on. What has helped is just being able to analyze the sport and not make it a bigger deal than it is when he is not doing well—while also remaining humble and analytical when he is.”
After losing to the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the charity event named Battle of Legends in Puerto Rico, Tiafoe is now set to make his 9th appearance at the BNP Paribas Open. Seeded 16th, the American has received a bye into the 2nd round, where he will take on either Roberto Bautista Agut or a qualifier/lucky loser.
Having failed to impress this season so far, can Big Foe bounce back at the Indian Wells? What do you think?
