Stephen Curry Confirms Physical Health Status as Medical Device Protects Him During 50-Point Night vs Grizzlies

It was a vintage Stephen Curry bonanza that helped the Warriors vanquish their nemesis, Memphis Grizzlies. The ‘Baby Faced Assassin’ hit home on 12 threes and notched up his 15th career 50-point performance. It was just as magical and easygoing as any of his other unforgettable performances. One thing that has changed, though, is how his body copes with the toll of such an extensive night.

At the age of 36, the Chef doesn’t heal the same. However, despite his recent injury history, time aligned perfectly for Curry. He only played 2 minutes in his second game back from injury as the Warriors cruised through the Spurs. One day of rest later, Stephen Curry had a full tank. And just as the playoffs approach, he is starting to feel like himself.

“Thankfully, right now, where I feel good physically and can, you know, play my usual game. Be, as you know, take on the intensity that defenses are giving me and still feel I can get to my spots,” Curry commented about his conditioning. However, a heavy night like today does take a lot out of him at this point in his career.

Luckily, Stephen Curry loves the process of preparing for the grueling demands of the game. “Might need you know a little bit more extra ice on post-game and day after but all that really means is just you got to really want it and I love the work that I got to put into it,” he said after his 52-point performance.

But although he looks forward to the recovery process after such scoring explosions, right now Stephen Curry also had to be cautious. With his back and knees both having nagging ailments, it’s critical for the Warriors to try and preserve his health. And so the ‘Baby Face Assassin’ admitted to using a device to safeguard himself.

Stephen Curry confirms using protective gear as a precaution

Before facing the Toronto Raptors, Curry was already suffering from lower back pain. He had sat out a game to rest the injury and hopefully mitigate the pain it caused. But then he suffered from a nasty fall against the Raptors. His tailbone crashed onto the hardwood, and Curry didn’t return to the game.

In fact, the pelvic contusion required me to take a few games off. But the Warriors and Stephen Curry both were thankful that he had avoided any structural damage. And in order to prevent the risk of it happening, Curry plans to wear protective gear for the entirety of the regular season.

After his electric night, he said, “Body feels good. It’s been a good trend. I think I haven’t played an intense game like that in a while, of course, since before the injury. Still wearing the pad back there trying to protect myself. But other than that felt like a good rhythm,”.

With Curry’s history of injuries, such devices can turn out to be huge in keeping him away from any further damage. Moreover, with the next few games key to their playoff picture, it’s almost a necessity. Currently, three teams in the West have 44 wins including the Warriors. If the Clippers win their next battle, they will hop over the Bay.

So the priority for the Warriors now is to win every game they have in hand to secure a top 6 finish. And to maximize their chances, Stephen Curry not only has to be on the floor but also healthy to perform at his best. The pad could help in doing so, significantly limiting the chances of injury and providing him with structural support.

It doesn’t completely avoid the risks of an injury. But it’s the best the Warriors and Curry can do right now. The rest is all up to fortune. And the basketball Gods.
