Stephen Curry Is Struggling to Digest Hard Truth That Makes Ayesha Curry & Family Happy

Looking at Stephen Curry, it’s hard to tell he is 37. The two-time MVP has acknowledged this being the final chapter of his basketball career several times. That was one of the reasons him not getting a chance to compete against the Minnesota Timberwolves weighed on him a little more. In this last phase, Curry wants to relish everything that comes with being a professional. And although he loves spending time with his family. he wants to get as much basketball out of himself as he can.

The Chef still feels appreciated upon the mention of his age. “It’s an ultimate compliment because it’s part of like the level that you’re playing at and like, oh, he’s still doing it at this age,” he said. The sad part of his age are the growing injury concerns. In his last phase, Curry doesn’t want to miss out on high-stakes games.

“It’s a reminder of your basketball mortality and appreciating every moment that you have. It’s why the way this ended was as emotional as it was. Not being able to play in those big games because you don’t know how many more opportunities you will have,” he said about battling with injuries late in his career.

Being the final phase, it’s not hard to see why Stephen Curry wants to be part of every game possible. Obviously, he wants to keep winning and cement his place in NBA history. But that’s secondary. The utmost priority is to give the sport of basketball everything he can before it’s time to hang up the sneakers.

High-pressure moments are the epitome of the best quality of basketball. However, he does find ways to make the best out of such periods of inactivity. “Like seeing my family and seeing my kids grow and opportunities off the court. Like it allows me to just have fun and appreciate this chapter of my life um as much as possible, knowing that hopefully the next chapter is as great. But this one I’m trying to get every, you know, bit of uh fun and experience and, you know, squeeze as much juice out of this as possible,” he said in his exit interview.

So there are perks to both sides of the court. But if given a choice, Curry wants to serve basketball to his fullest before he makes the transition to the next chapter of his life.

The Warriors can help Stephen Curry

It was a tough season for Stephen Curry in terms of injury. During the regular season, a back ailment kept him out for a significant time. However, that was a freak accident. His hamstring injury was a product of fatigue and over usage. The Warriors needed to have him on the floor during their exhaustive seven-game series against the Rockets.

Unfortunately for Kerr, he wasn’t able to manage his minutes. “If you want to survive and advance, then what are you going to do? Play Steph 32 minutes and lose a game? You know, you really got to do what you got to do to advance,” he said about the Warriors talisman’s injury.

Likewise, in order to extract the most out of the Baby Face Assassin, the onus falls on the Warriors front office. Look at every older player in the league. LeBron James has Luka Doncic, Paul George is with Joel Embiid, and even Kevin Durant has Devin Booker to take the physical load off them.

Stephen Curry did get paired with Jimmy Butler. However, both of them are aging. The Timberwolves series showcased how the Warriors flail without the four-time champion on the floor. Hence, it’s important to equip the Warriors with a supporting cast who can make the burden lighter.

Right now, Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga have emerged as two potential players who can be given a bigger role. But if the Warriors want to continue with the Curry-Butler model, their depth needs to improve. It will help the former Finals MVP stay healthy for longer. But more importantly, it will also help the Warriors in their quest for one last title in the Curry era.
