Life has turned out to be quite harsh for Quincy Hall. While just a year ago, Hall was at the top of the world with an emphatic 400m victory, this year hasn’t been the same. While everyone, including Quincy himself, thought that the year would start big for him at the million-dollar bonanza, namely the Grand Slam Track, it would be yet another cakewalk. But those who watched the race unfold in the heart of Jamaica can attest that it was anything but that. So what happened? And what’s next for the Olympian?
Well, the first edition of the Grand Slam Track kicked off in Jamaica. However, with the fans expecting some fireworks from Hall, the Olympian had a saddening update. The 26-year-old announced that he had to withdraw from the competition owing to his injury woes. Now, this was a significant setback, as it meant Hall missing out on the whopping $200,000 prize money. And to make matters worse, the Olympian has now come up with yet another saddening update.
Grand Slam Track is all set to take place in Miami for its second edition. This time, the American fans did expect a full house of their favorite US athletes. But one name from the list will be missing. And that is Quincy Hall! As per the official announcement, Hall has withdrawn his name from the GST altogether. Replacing him is the former Olympic champion, Steven Gardiner.

Grand Slam Track took to their official X account and stated, “We are excited to announce Olympic champion @SpeedyStevie as a Men’s Long Sprints Racer for the remainder of the season! Gardiner will replace Quincy Hall on our Racer roster. We are thankful to Quincy for being part of the journey, and we’re wishing him continued success ahead.”
Surely, such a major blow will take some time for Hall to cope with. However, according to a report on CITIUS Mag, Hall is currently listed on the starting list for the Diamond League meet in China. Meanwhile, as Hall has suffered a heartbreak on the track, he is not sitting quietly as fellow compatriot Noah Lyles took a bizarre dig at the Olympic champion.
Quincy Hall clapped back at Noah Lyles over the 4×400 Olympic snub
Noah Lyles’ bold words had ruffled feathers once again. And this time within Team USA. After suggesting that Quincy Hall, a 4×400m specialist, wouldn’t be a starter in the Olympic relay team, Lyles found himself at the receiving end of a sharp, public comeback from Hall. What started as a throwaway remark from Lyles ignited fresh tension in the American sprinting circle.
A user on X flagged Lyles’ surprising claim, “Noah really said he’d put himself on the 4×4 at the Olympics over Quincy Hall.” Hall didn’t let it slide. First, he poked fun at the idea, referencing a hypothetical 15k race at the Olympics—something Noah had jokingly thrown out earlier. Then, he dropped the real punchline. He added, “Then he had the nerve to say at the Olympics we can race for 15k… I ain’t talking smack tho cause he went out there and raced… most people wouldn’t even step out there so hats off to him.”
Lyles had previously claimed on the Track World News Podcast that using Hall on the first leg would be “almost like a waste of his talent.” But that reasoning didn’t soften the blow. Hall’s response, laced with sarcasm and subtle praise, suggests he’s not just brushing it off, and a potential rift within Team USA may be brewing.
