One Olympic Gold. One World Championships Silver medal. 2024 World Indoor champion. A meet named to her name in the very school she studied. A loving husband as well. One might say that Tara Davis-Woodhall has it all. But the Olympian is a different breed altogether. The long jumper is now exploring a whole new sport and has even called out Ilona Maher. What sport and what did she say to Maher?
Tara Davis Woodhall has called out American rugby union player Ilona Maher. In a video posted by the athlete on April 2, 2025, she captioned, “Coming for your spot @ilonamaher.” And why would that be? Because the women’s long jump gold medalist is trying a new sport. The video began with the Woodhalls in the frame and Hunter saying, “Ilona, I don’t want to scare you or nothing. We’re here now. Watch this.” The very next moment, we see Hunter tossing her wife a rugby. “Show them, baby,” he tells her.
The Olympian, dressed in green shorts, a yellow t-shirt, and a headband, then jots down the field. “Go, go, go,” her husband cheers, and when she reaches the end, she scores the touchdown, but only after the Paralympian tells her to “set it down“. So the long jumper is now trying her legs in Rugby as well. Next, was Hunter kicking the wall to her wife with the warning, “Ball in“. The video ended with a special message for the Rugby bronze medalist. Tara, at the end of the video, hit an intimidating post and asked her fellow American, “Yeah…scared?”
Hunter himself commented on the video. He asked the Rugby star, “Wya @ilonamaher“. Interestingly, when the video began, there was a text over the video that read, “New sport for 2028 Olympics?“. Well, indeed there is. Flag Football. In flag football, every player wears a belt. It is the belt the opponent team is to try to get hold of instead of tackling a player to stop a play.
The story is developing…..
