Taylor Rooks “Turned Anthony Edwards Into a Feminist” Is Trending After Wild Los Angeles Night

Anthony Edwards was on cloud nine after closing down the Los Angeles Lakers at their home. The five-game series was a statement of defiance by the Minnesota Timberwolves. They were perceived as underdogs going into the contest. However, Ant-Man and Co. dominated the series. And as he walked down the LA streets for a victory lap, Edwards did some mocking of his own.

“Lakers in 5. And then when we was up 3-1 they said Lakers in 7,” the Wolves ace said as he walked around Los Angeles. However, that wasn’t the moment that caught everyone’s attention. During the lap, he used a reference from the movie ‘Boys N The Hood’, compelling a fan to ask him if that was indeed his favorite movie.

“Nah, that ain’t my favorite movie. My favorite movie is Matilda,” Anthony Edwards said to the fans’ surprise. But is it true that an overzealous and confident stud like him likes a childhood classic? Popular NBA reporter Taylor Rooks came to the scene and debunked the theory from one of their past interviews.

In a video she uploaded on Instagram, she answered the fans’ curiosity. “5 years ago, before he was drafted, Anthony Edwards told me why Matilda is his favorite movie…the clip circulating of him in LA after the win is his honest answer. I remember he told me he knew the movie basically memorized lol,” she wrote.

It is tough to fathom. When one looks at Anthony Edwards, his charismatic personality and maniacal mentality stand out. That’s the reason fans believe Edwards might have fallen prey to the popular notion of NBA players around Taylor Rooks.

NBA fans turn the tables on Anthony Edwards

It’s been a running joke for quite a few years now. NBA fans feel players feel ‘different’ around Rooks. Several times, fans even feel they have lied in her presence. Likewise, when the old clip was unearthed after all these years, fans felt the same once again. “Taylor rooks so powerful she turned Anthony Edwards into a feminist,” a fan wrote.

Notably, during the interview prior to his drafting, Ant-Man said he likes the movie because it depicts how powerful women are. “I just like to see things like that. So when I first it I was like this is the best movie of all time,” he said about Matilda.

But despite actually standing on his answer, it didn’t stop fans from making these assumptions. Comments like “He wouldn’t have said this if anybody else was interviewing him lmfao” and “Bro was saying anything to impress you,” flooded all over Rook’s post about the story. And this has been their take on her influence for a while.

The NBA world has called out several stars in the past. There are still videos of Jaylen Brown claiming he would win six championships by the age of 28 that circulate. Additionally, the likes of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and even the Thompson twins have fallen prey to it. But if anything, this might be a nod to Rooks’ incredible personality and her ability to connect with players well.

So in the case of Anthony Edwards, fans continued to feel he became part of the movement during his rookie interview. “Boy, these folks be saying anything when T Rooks in front of them I swear lmaooooo,” another fan wrote. However, in this instance of Anthony Edwards, his thoughts do make sense.

As a child, Ant Man was raised by his mother and grandmother. The influence of powerful women in his life hence has been large. And that might be the reason he was able to resonate with a movie like Matilda that tackles a little girl’s journey through adversity. But although this is out there, it’s hard to see the fans changing their perspective.
