Taylor Swift’s New BFF Cheers On Juan Soto and Mets at Citi Field Post-NYC Date With Superstar Singer

Baseball has long been a magnet for stars beyond the diamond, regularly drawing some of the biggest names from Hollywood and the music world to its stands. This season is no exception. Well, the glitz of Tinseltown has once again found its way to the ballpark, this time, at Citi Field, during a matchup between the Mets and the Rockies.

Among the crowd, fans spotted a familiar face who’s reportedly the newest addition to pop superstar Taylor Swift’s inner circle. So, with appearances like these, credit goes to the Mets for cultivating a fanbase that’s as star-studded as it is passionate. So, guess who graced the park?

Dakota Johnson, the sensation from the Fifty Shades of Grey! She was spotted in Citi Field supporting the Mets. While fans were not aware of her presence in the field, the Mets broadcaster’s Carbon Copy Cam moments spotted her, stirring a huge round of applause in the stands. And guess what? This isn’t the first time Johnson has been spotted throwing her support behind the Mets.

If you were eagle-eyed enough last year, you might remember her rocking a Mets cap on multiple occasions. Last year, she was spotted donning the cap while filming her upcoming movie Materialists in New York City. She was seen wearing the Mets cap during breaks from filming and also while arriving on set. So, whether it’s a nod to her growing love for the team or just a fashionable coincidence, one thing’s clear: Johnson’s Mets fandom is becoming hard to ignore. However, what’s also interesting is Johnson’s blooming friendship with Taylor Swift.

In photos obtained by People, Swift was recently spotted stepping out for dinner at the trendy NYC hotspot Via Carota on Thursday. Joining her? None other than Dakota Johnson. And while their friendship might have stayed under the radar for some, this sighting isn’t their first public crossover. If you remember, back in 2016, their mutual friend Cara Delevingne shared a birthday post for Johnson that featured a screenshot of the pair with Swift. It was a subtle glimpse into a friendship that’s only grown stronger over the years.

Hence, it looks like a busy New York schedule for Johnson. Accompanying Swift for a dinner date and cheering for the Mets and Juan Soto in Citi Field, New York – people spotted Johnson twice in a day! The question is, with such star power backing the team, when will the club up the ante even more?

The Mets still await the Soto shuffle

While support is pouring in for the Mets, the team’s performance in the 2025 season has been a mix of strengths and challenges. Currently, due to their recent dip, the Mets are standing second in the NL East with a record of 35–22. Here, the major blame goes to their offense, particularly with the underperformance of Juan Soto.

Soto, who joined the Mets with high expectations following a stellar season with the Yankees, has experienced a notable decline in performance. Currently, he holds a .224 batting average, with 8 home runs and 25 RBIs, resulting in a .745 OPS. So, when it comes to someone like Soto, you know this is a significant drop from his previous season.

While Soto’s performance has been underwhelming, the Mets’ offense has been bolstered by contributions from other key players. Especially Francisco Lindor (10 HRs) and Pete Alonso (11 HRs) continue to anchor the lineup, providing consistent offensive output. Moreover, the recent addition of Jared Young, who returned from a successful stint in the KBO league, has added depth to the roster.

So, is that enough for the Mets? The answer will be a big NO! If you talk about their pitching, then it’s going great, with ranked #1 in terms of ERA (2.87). But when it comes to their hitting, vulnerabilities are exposed! While Dakota Johnson’s stars saw a win against the Rockies, it’s going to be a whole different matter to see if the streak continues.
