Tennis Power Couple Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas Trade Rackets for a Glamorous Courtside NBA Experience

“I changed my life because Paula Badosa brought a bright light into it,” the Geek ace Stefanos Tsitsipas once shared in an interview with ESTO, and honestly, his words couldn’t be more fitting! The tennis power couple seems truly meant for each other. From Paula clarifying her Happy Slam 3rd-round hand gesture wasn’t for Stefanos (though he was a huge support in the stands) to the Greeks’ heartwarming tribute on International Women’s Day, sharing a cozy video of them enjoying a snowy escape, love is always in the air for them. And most recently, the duo was spotted courtside at an NBA game, sneaking in some well-deserved downtime from tennis together, yet again.

Both Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa have had a rocky start to the season, struggling to find consistency on tour. For the ATP ace, despite claiming the Dubai Tennis Championships title, his performances have been far from dominant. A shocking 1st-round exit at the AO set the tone, followed by a QF loss at ATP Rotterdam, an R32 exit at the Qatar Open, and an R16 defeat at Indian Wells, all proving that his form remains unpredictable.

Meanwhile, the WTA ace Paula Badosa has faced her own share of setbacks this season. Her AO campaign ended in heartbreak, losing to her best friend Aryna Sabalenka in the SF. Beyond that, she suffered early exits at the Abu Dhabi Open, Dubai Tennis Championships, and Qatar Open, while also withdrawing from the recently concluded Indian Wells because of a back injury, a tournament she famously won in 2021. With the Miami Open just around the corner, the duo made sure to hit the pause button, sneaking in some much-needed downtime at an NBA showdown before the action kicks off tomorrow.

Recently, the ‘ATP Tour’ page on X captured a sweet moment of the Greek and the Spaniard enjoying the Miami Heat vs. Detroit Pistons game. The short video showed the couple in high spirits, soaking in the electric atmosphere courtside. The page playfully captioned the clip, “POV: you bump into Tsitsipas & Badosa courtside at the @MiamiHEAT game.” Paula also took to her IG to share glimpses of their night at the Kaseya Center. In her first story, she uploaded a quick clip of the game in action, followed by a cozy snapshot of the couple, capturing yet another special moment together.

Also, the power couple has recently stepped outside their comfort zone, this time trying their hand at pickleball! Ahead of the Miami Open, the duo was spotted in action, engaging in a spirited ‘mixed double’ match. An X page, ‘Tsitsidosa Updates‘, shared the clip, showing the pair embracing the fast-paced game with their signature chemistry on full display.

And speaking of mixed doubles, the excitement doesn’t stop there for the couple, though! Recently, Tsitsipas teased some thrilling news, hinting at an upcoming mixed doubles event later this year.

Tsitsipas & Badosa set their sights on the new mixed doubles event at the US Open later this year

The ‘US Open’ organizers have introduced a major shake-up in their mixed doubles tournament later this year, but not without controversy. Last month, the USTA confirmed that the major draw will now begin on a Sunday, aligning with the AO and Ronald Garros, both of which run for 15 days. The 2025 US Open is officially scheduled from August 18 to September 7. However, the biggest change came on February 11, when organizers announced a revamp of the mixed doubles format overall.

To entice more singles players into the mixed doubles competition, the organization has announced a $1 million prize pool along with a revamped scoring format. While the draw size remains at 16 teams (32 players), the biggest shift comes in shorter match durations and a condensed 2-day schedule. The goal? Well, to lure the sport’s biggest stars, many of whom have traditionally skipped doubles to focus on singles. And, shortly after the announcement, the recent Dubai Open Winner Stefanos Tsitsipas wasted no time expressing his enthusiasm, hinting at a potentially mixed doubles partnership with his beloved, Paula Badosa.

“We plan to play it. She’s the mixed doubles partner I’ll always play with. I don’t have any other options or players I’d like to play mixed doubles with. She’s the one I’d like to share the court with,” Tsitsipas explained at a press conference in Dubai recently.

Although their mixed doubles match at the US Open is still a while away, before that, the Greek player will compete against 23-year-old Tseng Chun-hsin, while Paula will face off against 18-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko. Do you think the couple will overcome their first hurdle and advance deep into the tournament?
