Terence Crawford Reveals What He Truly Loves About Dana White’s UFC – “A Guy Can Lose…”

While most boxers tend to stay away from MMA or UFC in general, they have shown their love for the sport. WBA super welterweight champion Terence Crawford is one of those boxers who’ve attended multiple UFC events in the past. However, the 37-year-old recently revealed that it’s not just the action inside the Octagon that he’s a fan of, but also the way the fighters are treated by the community as well.

Dana White has built an MMA empire with the UFC after acquiring the promotion a couple of decades ago. While there have been some issues with fighter pay, which has become a big discussion in the MMA community, Terence Crawford has shown love for the way White’s promotion gives its fighters opportunities. He especially emphasized how, when someone loses a fight, but still garners ‘respect’ for the community for their performance, unlike in boxing, where one single defeat could spell the end for a boxer, because of the influence of Floyd Mayweather‘s record.

“UFC do have a good way of putting on the best fights at the right time. Not only that, one thing I love about the UFC is that a guy can lose, and still be supported,” Terence Crawford stated on the Pound 4 Pound podcast“Nowadays, in boxing, Floyd made it to where you lose, like, they’re kicking you to the curb, and all. ‘You the b*m. You this and that.’ It’s like, man, dude, lost to a good fighter.”

Well, Floyd Mayweather – the man with an incredible 50-0 record – may have had a perfect record, which can never be surpassed, but Terence Crawford is closing in on it. His record has been a subject of controversy at times because he was stat padding. Even UFC legend Chael Sonnen once aired his grievance with Mayweather regarding his record on national television because of fighting “complete wimps.”

Despite that, ‘Money’s record is still hailed as the greatest, and every fighter is trying to surpass that. But if they lose trying to achieve greatness, they’re often frowned upon by the boxing community, according to Terence Crawford. “Floyd, he left with an unblemished record, and he set the bar high. So now, everybody is trying to protect the O because you get one loss, and now you gotta go way to the back of the bus. And now, ot’s like, dang! Your shine is off now because of the fans and the media, how they go around.”

Given that he has praised Dana White’s promotion so much, could he be joining the 55-year-old boxing league in the future? That remains to be seen. Meanwhile, he’s got a real big fight coming up soon, and the fight could see Dana White’s involvement.
