Terence Crawford and Teofimo Lopez have been on a steady rise in recent years, but their relationship has been far from smooth. Marked by sharp criticisms and escalating tensions, Lopez has repeatedly attacked Crawford for facing opponents who, according to him, are injured. In response, ‘Bud’ has fired back, accusing Lopez of being outright disrespectful and questioning his true intentions.
The animosity between the two seems to have crossed a personal line, with both their families now becoming embroiled in the back-and-forth. So, what exactly sparked this bitter feud? Let’s dive in and find out. At the Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero fight presser, Crawford was jumped by Team Lopez, and we could see a woman screaming at Crawford.
‘Bud’ was just smiling as he tried to handle the situation as calmly as possible. However, the video ended with Crawford hurling some insults at the woman. ‘Bud’s sister, Latisha Crawford, got hold of this video as she took to her X handle to call out the woman who was arguing with his brother, “I wonder if she knows that he has sisters that are TTG.”

Terrence responded, “She doesn’t know any better.” Have Lopez and Terence Crawford fought each other? Well, certainly not. Lopez called out Crawford for a fight last year, but ‘Bud’ chose to fight Canelo Alvarez instead, last September. However, that fight was also canceled by Alvarez. Why? While some questioned why Canelo wasn’t agreeing to the fight, others were more focused on the weight difference between the two fighters, thinking it was a mismatch from the start.
Well, Teofimo Lopez is about to face Arnold Barboza Jr. in a WBO World Super Lightweight title fight at Times Square, New York. Interestingly, ‘The Takeover’ was looking to face Terence Crawford, but the superfight didn’t happen. Let’s have a look at what ensued!
Teofimo Lopez failed to secure a super fight against Terence Crawford
Teofimo Lopez spent much of last year calling out Terence Crawford for a mega showdown, only to watch the pound-for-pound king secure a high-profile clash with Canelo Alvarez this September (not confirmed as of now). With that dream match slipping through his fingers, Lopez will now defend his title against Arnold Barboza in a highly anticipated battle on a historic New York City card.
When asked about his intended clash with Crawford, Lopez stated, “I think to myself … I don’t know,” Lopez said. He further added, “147 is around the corner for me, and you have Stanionis versus ‘Boots,’” Lopez said. “Those two fighters are fighting for the Ring lineal world championship title as well. It will be on the line when they unify. That’s something I’m looking at.”
For now, Lopez has his sights set on Barboza, aiming to cross those roads. “In the meantime, I’ve got to focus on Barboza. None of this really matters until then. Barboza is gonna be the guy who really sets the tone for me everywhere or with anything else that comes to play.” Lopez wishes to clash with Terence Crawford after facing Barboza.
