“Thank You Mr Rogan” – Controversial JRE Guest Pens Joe Rogan a Note for ‘Sending Thousands’ to Get Her Opinion

One of the best things about Joe Rogan is his remarkable open-mindedness. The long-time UFC commentator’s relaxed, conversational style of interviewing guests who hold unorthodox and eclectic views is one of the things that helped Rogan become the biggest, most popular podcaster in the world. However, like all good things, this too can go a bit too far. And long-time Rogan fans feel that the podcaster has gone a bit off the deep end with his platforming of medical experts whose views go against the existing medical research. The latest example of this was Dr Suzanne Humphries, who holds pretty fringe views on vaccines.

For instance, the nephrologist told Rogan that she believes the eradication of polio could be credited to the improvements made in sanitation and nutrition rather than the polio vaccine, which was invented in the 1950s. Another interesting claim that she made on episode #2294 of the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast was that many common vaccines contain harmful level of toxins like formaldehyde, mercury, and aluminium.

Both claims fly in the face of decades of careful medical research, which has led to some forceful rejoinders about her views, such as this one on the ‘Central European Digital Media Observatory’. And appearing on JRE seems to have already pointed out that she was more peaceful and happy than previously.

“Thank you Mr Rogan for sending so many thousands here to see my posts. More will be coming after the week of interviews I have lined up. Love to you all,” Dr Humphries wrote from her X account on Thursday.

Rogan’s critics will argue that the UFC commentator contributes to the spread of medical misinformation, which could have serious adverse effects for many people, by having figures like Dr. Humphries on his uber-influential platform. However, the Texas resident is no stranger to such pushback and it doesn’t seem to bother him.

Well, while having Dr Humphries on his podcast may have been a controversial decision that many may disagree with, last week, Rogan made some comments about Power Slap which has found almost unanimous currency among fight fans.

Joe Rogan reveals he tried to dissuade Dana White against starting Power Slap

Dana White wears many metaphorical hats on his shiny bald head. Along with being the head honcho of the UFC, the Boston native sits on the board of ‘Meta’ and is starting a new boxing league with the Saudis. But perhaps closest to the UFC CEO’s heart at the moment is his slap fighting league, ‘Power Slap’.

The slap-fighting promotion, of course, is pretty controversial among fans, who don’t even consider it an insult to combat sports. And Rogan seems to agree with the fans, revealing that he had actually tried to talk some sense into Dana White over it.

“I think the UFC f—-d up when they went with slap fighting. I’ve been telling them forever, ‘You guys should get into kickboxing.’ If you only like standup fights, it’s not like the old days of kickboxing where they were boring. The knockouts are f—ing crazy… Glory’s got some elite fighters. I watch Glory all the time. It’s f—ing exciting, but nobody’s watching it. Nobody knows who these people are,” Rogan said on the JRE Fight Companion episode for UFC London last weekend.

Rogan, of course, is himself a former, state-champion kickboxer. So some may feel like he is being partial to the sport he used to practice. However, as the UFC commentator pointed out, Glory, the UK-based kickboxing promotion has some excellent fighters and some wild fights which do not get the eyeballs the UFC does.

Two of UFC’s biggest, most exciting recent superstars, Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya are actually Glory alumni, showing just how high caliber the fighters there are. But, for better or worse, White chose to go with slap fighting and is insistent it will be one of the most popular sports in the world.

But, there is still time. Maybe the UFC boss eventually does see the light and takes Rogan’s advice about having a kickboxing version of the UFC. What do you think about Dr Suzanne Humphries thanking Rogan for attracting more people to her medical views?
