“The Propaganda Campaign Begins”: Conor McGregor’s Wholesome Moment Ruined as Fans Fixate on His Political Aspirations

Conor McGregor’s stroll through Dublin could have been a heartwarming love letter to the city. Instead, it turned into political theater—at least, that’s what the internet thinks. In a recent video posted by the Instagram account ‘This is Dublin’,  the Irish MMA icon appeared on Main Street, flashing smiles, shaking hands, and soaking up the admiration of locals. The scene had the makings of a hero’s welcome.

“This is Dublin, baby, what a city, what a day!” McGregor beamed. It was sunshine, cheers, and children eager for a photo. But if the moment was meant to feel organic, fans weren’t buying it. As the man behind the camera praised McGregor for the “recognition” and “appreciation” he showed for the IG channel, he couldn’t resist sneaking in the words: “Hashtag Irish President.”

And just like that, the bubble popped. What should’ve been a wholesome moment turned into a chess move on McGregor’s political board, according to some voices online. Why?

Because lately, ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t just been talking about punches and pay-per-view records. He’s talking policy, immigration, and a possible run for the presidency of Ireland. Conor McGregor’s recent White House visit for a St. Patrick’s Day meeting with President Donald Trump raised plenty of eyebrows.

In a speech from the podium of the White House press room, McGregor stated, “I’m here to raise the issues the people of Ireland face, It’ll be music to the people of Ireland’s ears because never on the main stage has the issues that Ireland face been spoke. Our government has long since abandoned the voices of the people of Ireland…” However, this wasn’t the only political statement that ‘The Notorious’ has made.

At the BKFC 70 (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) post-fight press conference, McGregor shared, “To be announced as the President of Ireland while having a fight? Imagine that.” But even as the Irishman is seemingly doing all the right things, the fans aren’t buying it. Here’s a look at what the netizens had to say about Conor McGregor’s interaction on the streets of Dublin!

Conor McGregor’s “scripted” interaction blasted by fans as political ambitions come under scrutiny

One fan chimed in and pointed out that the Instagram clip felt staged. Complete with a full walk-up, kids running up to him, and the account owner yelling, “Fraser, run over and get a photo.” The entire scene seemed too polished, especially paired with the narration that ended with a curious hashtag. What do you think?

“Def scripted whoever think its real”

For others, this seemed like the final piece of the puzzle for Conor McGregor’s presidential ambitions. But is it really that easy? In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, McGregor explained,You have to get four county councils which are controlled by the government parties or you have to get 20 nominations of the Oireachtas which are all mostly party affiliates. Can’t just run for president.” So perhaps this might be the start of his campaign, but whether it was propaganda or not, it’s hard to tell!

“So the propaganda campaign begins he’s really serious”

If McGregor truly has the people’s best interests in mind, why does he need security when mingling with them on a public street? That’s a sharp jab from a fan. But it’s a fair question, after all, can a man shielded from the public really speak for the public?

“Why does he need a bodyguard?”

Others weren’t impressed with the theatrics as one fan brought up McGregor’s recent scandals by calling him a ‘clown’. The former UFC ‘champ-champ’ was found liable in a civil trial in Ireland earlier this year, and the backlash for his public image seems to still be resonating for some people.

“Who’d want to make friends wit this

Another fan didn’t mince words as they went off on ‘The Notorious’, Harsh? Maybe. But with McGregor openly stating that “We are not a democratic country” to Tucker Carlson and complaining about how he can’t just run for president due to the “stipulations” mentioned above, it’s clear that not everyone is buying his sudden shift in roles as Ireland’s savior.

“What a complete k—”

In conclusion, whether it was the smiles, the perfectly timed camera angles, or the not-so-subtle nod to a presidential run, fans saw more strategy than sincerity. The walk through Dublin wasn’t just a stroll—it felt like a campaign trail disguised as a crowd-pleaser. With past controversies still looming and bold political ambitions entering the frame, Conor McGregor’s pivot from prizefighter to politician is raising more eyebrows than support.

So, is this the dawn of ‘President Notorious’ or was it just another PR move to rehabilitate his image? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
