“There Was a Brawl”: Sherrone Moore’s RB Exposes True Reality of Ugly OSU & Michigan Fallout That Ended in Controversy

Remember what went down after The Game in 2024? Michigan vs. Ohio State. The 120th edition. What started way back as a land squabble between the two states has now exploded into a century-long sports rivalry. The tension was so thick you could practically taste it. Michigan was riding a three-game winning streak, but No. 2 Ohio State strolled in as a massive 21-point favorite over a Michigan team with a new head coach, Sherrone Moore. Who knew the underdog Wolverines could deliver a 13-10 upset to Ryan Day’s grand plan?

And it’s after the game that things got wild. Right at mid-field. A full-on melee. Michigan tried to plant their flag right on the Buckeyes logo. Total chaos. Coaches looked like deer in headlights. Officers swooped in with pepper spray. Everyone was watching the brawl, the flag planters, the scuffle. But not many noticed what else was happening—something real. Something raw. Something powerful.

Fast forward to April 15, former Michigan RB and 2025 NFL Draft prospect Donovan Edwards hops on The Rich Eisen Show. Rich, being a Michigan man himself, asked him about that final Ohio State game. The energy, the buildup, the aftermath. “No doubt my big goal was always three things—beat Ohio State, win a Big Ten Championship, and National Championship,” he replied. “And I never wanted to lose to Ohio State so especially being able to beat Ohio State this last season and especially in the manner that we did, it was definitely a great feeling.” But then Rich flips to a clip.

Four Michigan special teams guys making the “OHIO” letters right in the middle of that madness. Donovan Edwards just smiles and drops something nobody expected. “I can’t really tell you. Clearly there was a brawl,” he said. “But me, TreVeyon Henderson, Gee Scott, and a bunch of other Ohio State guys, we were praying after the game.” That’s right. While fists were flying, Donovan, Trey, Scott, and Glorien Glough were in a huddle, praying. He said it was something his rivals wanted to do—a show of unity.

Our brotherhood for one another is bigger than the game of football,” he added. “Also the Michigan vs. Ohio State, to respect the rivalry, you know everybody could talk trash and talk junk, but at the end of the day, we all respect each other.” Brotherhood over rivalry. Man, what a leader!

Donovan Edwards didn’t care about the chaos. Instead, he said—“Clearly the brawl was a big thing, but honestly for me, the highlight for me after that game was being able to pray with those guys on the field after that game.” In the middle of the storm, this guy was a calm leader, a literal peacemaker. He didn’t just win hearts with his plays. He earned respect from both sides of the rivalry. That moment was bigger than football. But now don’t get it twisted. He was still a formidable weapon for Sherrone Moore on the field.

From Sherrone Moore’s offense to the big league

Sherrone Moore may have a new lineup, but he’s one star short for 2025 as Donovan Edwards makes a jump to the NFL. As a Wolverine, he wrapped up a 47-8 record, three B1G titles, a natty, 25 total TDs, and over 3,000 total yards. And the biggest achievement? He never lost to Ohio State! And now, it’s the Steelers who are in the mix for this 5’11, 205-pound gamechanger.

Picture this: Donovan Edwards wearing black and gold, backing up Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are still trying to find their identity post Ben Roethlisberger. This Sherrone Moore product could quietly be the guy who helps anchor their run game again. He’s a projected sixth or seventh round pick, which would be a big steal given his high ceiling as a great athlete and an influential leader.

Donovan Edwards might’ve walked off The Game with a limp, but he’s stepping into the NFL with something even bigger—leadership and maturity. And hey, who wouldn’t want a running back who commands respect over rage?
