Mikaela Shiffrin is set for one last race this season as she returns to home snow at the World Cup Finals in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Thursday. The two-time Olympic champion will compete in the women’s slalom, her first race in the U.S. since a crash in Killington last November left her with an abdominal injury, which forced her to miss two months of competition. This will be Shiffrin’s only event at the Finals, as she did not qualify for the giant slalom. With 386 points in the slalom standings, she is already out of contention for the season title, which Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutić leads with 515 points. But the eight-time world champion, wearing bib No. 2, will look to add to her record 100 World Cup victories as she brings the season to a close, and she has something to say about it!
Shiffrin took to Instagram to make her feelings known, “ Time to finish off this rollercoaster-thrill-of-a-season with one more race on home soil. See you in the morning, Sun Valley🩵 Bib 2.“
