The New Balance Grand Prix is here. Since 2019, fans have watched out for this track and field contest. Several top-rated athletes from different corners of the world will move to Brighton, Massachusetts, to grace the state-of-the-art indoor facility. Several exciting events and a lot of anticipation await us. We are just as excited as you are, so here are five top names to look out for this season of the New Balance Grand Prix.

The top five track and field athletes to enter the 2025 New Balance Grand Prix

The New Balance Grand Prix has plenty to offer to people hungry for raw pace. Among them, the 60m indoor event stands out. Noah Lyles. the reigning Olympic champion has had a habit of starting his season by appearing in the men’s 60m indoor event in the New Balance Grand Prix. However this time, the event will be his second race this season. Apart from Lyes, here are the notable track and field athletes to enter the contest.

Noah Lyles

The Champion Returns! The words shocked everyone when Noah Lyles released a video on his social media handles on January 19. Last year, he set his then-personal best timing in the men’s 60m event heat (6.44 seconds). He finished at 6.54 seconds, thus emerging victorious. But here comes an amazing fact. Last year, the six-time world champion didn’t drop his guard after registering his personal best at the NB Grand Prix. Rather, he set a new personal best at the USA Indoor Championships. Determination, right? This time, the athlete will have additional reasons to do his best at the event.

This time, the NB Grand Prix has renamed the men’s 60m indoor event. It will be the Ralph Mann Memorial Men’s 60m. The sports brand has taken the initiative to pay tribute to the late Olympian and sports scientist. And who does not know how Ralph Mann influenced Noah? So, the Florida native is under pressure to live up to his late mentor’s name. Furthermore, in his opening race this season, Lyles finished 6.62. A timing that may not justify his ability! A fiery contest is on the cards. But his opponents are far from weak.

Marcell Jacobs

“Boston, I’m coming!” Lamont Marcell Jacobs wrote on X on January 28. Yes, the former Olympic champion is slated to enter the New Balance Grand Prix this time. Guess who is his target in Boston? Noah Lyles! After the Paris Olympics men’s 100m final, it will be the first time the two Olympic champions will lock horns with each other. However, Noah has the advantage on paper. Lamont has yet to defeat him on the track. But Noah will perhaps not take it easy.

Four years ago, the Italian speedster won an Olympic event where Noah couldn’t qualify. Since then, the American champion has been counting days. In Paris, he met his goal. He claimed the men’s 100m title, defeating Jacobs, the defending champion. Will Marcell Jacobs succeed in redeeming himself? Well, it is for us to wait and watch.

Trayvon Bromell

Having recuperated from his injury, Trayvon Bromell returned this season with a bang. In the men’s 60m event at The Corky Classic, he set 6.62 seconds to claim victory. Now his next destination will be the NB Indoor Grand Prix. With Noah Lyles and Lamont Marcell Jacobs, he will be another competitor in the men’s 60m event. Will his entry in the contest remind him of the bad blood he once shared with Noah at the Boston Indoor two years ago? The track and field world will keep tabs on that.

Masai Russell

Track and field sports always have something to offer to its ardent fans. We are talking about the friendly rivalry between Masai Russell and Devynne Charlton! The two phenoms are contesting in the women’s 60 mH event. And this time, Charlton, the world record holder in the event, will feel added pressure on the track while matching up against the Olympic champion.

On January 17 this year, Devynne Charlton met with her training mate Russell in the women’s 60 mH event at The Corky Classic. Charlton, like the hundred times before, had the advantage. After all, she has the world record timing and is a champion in the event. But the calculations didn’t work, and Russell overpowered Charlton by 0.04 seconds. In the NB Grand Prix, they will meet again to settle the score. Nonetheless, the duo will face a stiff challenge from Ackera Nugent, the NCAA champion, widely regarded as Russell’s nemesis.

Quincy Wilson

Quincy Wilson has Will Sumner in front of him in the 600m indoor event. Well, the wunderkind will have his chance to demolish Sumner’s high school record in the 600m indoor event. But before that, he will find Sumner in the men’s 400m indoor event in the New Balance contest on February 2. Wilson has all the age-based records in the men’s 400m event under his name. But in recent times, things are unwell with him on track. This year, in the Virginia Showcase, Andrew Salvodon thwarted his challenge in the men’s 500m short track event. It was Quincy’s opening race this season, and his first one after claiming victory at the Olympics. So, a prestige fight will be on the cards in the men’s 400m event in the New Balance Grand Prix.

Altogether, the New Balance Grand Prix will have all the ingredients to make the match a delightful and an exciting exoerience for all. The tickets are still available with some exciting offers. So, brace yourself. Things might enter the fast lane in a few days.
