The Clippers continue their hot run! Yes, HC Tyron Lue finally returned to the bench after dealing with his back pain. But there’s a catch. The 47-year-old champion coach suffered intensified back pain and missed 5 games in two stretches this month. At the same time, the team’s lead assistant coach Jeff Van Gundy also had to leave the fold abruptly for a family concern. Amid this situation, Lue, who picked up the coach’s board again for tonight’s OKC Thunder challenge, detailed about his health scare.
Renowned NBA writer Tomer Azarly reported Coach Lue’s pre-game statement. Lue revealed that he suffered pain in his shoulder, back, and leg. On 9th March, assistant Brian Shaw suddenly took over the Clips’ coaching role and led the team to a famous win. While everyone thought that Lue would return earlier, he missed 3-straight games. And once again, he missed two straight games, citing the same concern.
In the meantime, the team picked up the pace at the right time, winning 7 of the last 8 games. Off the court, Ty Lue had also recovered from the pain and now, he has pain only in his legs. Moreover, he also added that the management is taking care of the pain in his legs and back on a day-to-day basis.
Tyronn Lue says the pain was in his shoulder, back, and leg.
Now the pain is moreso in his leg, but it’s much better and they’re taking management of his back/leg day to day. https://t.co/h2puqZgtbA
