Tyreek Hill Issues Public Apology to Mike McDaniel, Tua Tagovailoa & Dolphins Amid Injury & Marriage Troubles

Tyreek Hill’s offseason was never going to be calm and quiet. Throughout 2024, Hill struggled with a torn ligament on his wrist. Despite playing all 17 games, his stats fell to 81 catches and 959 yards, which is almost 50% less than his incredible 2023 season. Then came the Pro Bowl snub. Consequently, he underwent two surgeries: one to insert screws into his wrist and another to remove them. Hill claimed that the second procedure “went amazing,” but there are still many doubts about whether he is ready for camp.

However, anyone who thought the Cheetah would lay low obviously doesn’t know Tyreek Hill. Because what do you do when your personal life is in the news, you’re recovering from surgery, and you’re in legal trouble? You make a witty public apology to your NFL superiors while planning an eight-hour jet ski excursion to Catalina Island and going fishing in Newport, California, at five in the morning. And then you post about it on Snapchat.

Tyreek Hill began his day by posting a Snapchat clip that was half confession and half vlog. Standing on a California port in an all-black Adidas co-ord with his wrist cast on full display. “It’s 5 o’clock in the morning, and I’m fishing in Newport, California…It’s about to be one of those typical Tyreek Hill days, live life on the edge, spontaneous. But today, I’m gonna allow you guys all the access…So, I just hope the Dolphins don’t see this. Sorry Mike. Sorry Cal. Sorry Dave. Sorry Drew. And the guy who pays the bills, sorry, Mr. Ross.” With a fishing rod in hand and a spontaneous spirit intact, Hill addressed the people who matter most in Dolphins HQ — from head coach Mike McDaniel to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and even team owner Stephen Ross.

The crazy day went on to be crazier by the next post. Wearing a dive suit and promoting the exciting day ahead, Hill was headed to jet ski (“Sea-Doo” in his language) to Catalina Island: Man, it’s real tight. I don’t know if I’m getting fat or if I’m getting swole. You call it.” The eight-hour outing, which took place while his wrist was still healing from surgery, was half vacation, part turmoil, and completely off-script, in typical Cheetah manner. Although his enthusiasm shouted ‘YOLO,’ it was evident from the apologies that even Hill was aware that he was testing the Dolphins’ tolerance.

Despite its playful appearance, the Snapchat frenzy was more than just innocent off-field mischief. It served as a metaphor for Hill’s unpredictable nature. Their top receiver was out creating waves, both physically and figuratively, while the Dolphins are attempting to handle serious discussions about his trade rumors, his recovery schedule, and an impending divorce scandal. Tyreek Hill’s offseason ought to have been a cause for celebration. A newborn. A camp for young people. NFL stardom. But there was a developing storm beneath the highlight reels.

Divorce, disputes & deleted photos: Tyreek Hill’s marriage hits a breaking point

Police were called to Hill’s condo on April 7 following a fight with his wife, Keeta Vaccaro. During therapy, Hill allegedly grabbed their baby, stormed to the balcony on the 35th level, and stood there while tensions erupted, according to Keeta’s mother. A photo of that moment went viral. Keeta filed for divorce the following day, claiming that the marriage was “irretrievably broken,” but Hill was neither arrested nor charged.

There are now only 17 posts left after Hill removed her from his Instagram feed and unfollowed her. The Dolphins issued a neutral comment, but this became a franchise problem. Headlines are nothing new to Hill. In the past year alone, his house caught fire, a social media influencer accused him of breaking her leg, and the Dolphins reportedly opened up to trade talks. All the while, he persisted in fighting through personal conflict and injury.

And yet here he is, running Sea-Doo races while wearing a cast, hosting children’s camps, and publicly expressing his (kind of) apology to the guys who continue to pay his salary. The course suddenly appears different, but the cheetah is still moving. Tyreek Hill’s 2025 narrative has been less about speed and more about survival due to injury setbacks, off-field claims, and family conflicts.
