The Indiana Pacers are still reeling from the loss of Tyrese Haliburton to an Achilles injury and the departure of Myles Turner to Milwaukee. But they may have stumbled onto a hidden gem: Jay Huff. Acquired from Memphis for a second-round pick, the 7-footer brings a rare mix of rim protection and elite shooting—he shot 40.5% from three on 3.1 attempts per game last season.
In 11.7 minutes per game with the Grizzlies, Huff averaged 6.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and nearly a block. He joins Karl-Anthony Towns and Kristaps Porziņģis as the only seven-footers to hit 40% from deep on 200+ attempts last season. Not bad company. But it wasn’t just Pacers fans who took notice, Tyrese Haliburton did too.
After Swish Cultures posted a video captioned “Indiana Pacers New Center Jay Huff is going crazy in Spain runs his dunk package is different wow @TheNBPA”, Haliburton dropped a one-word reaction on X: “Damn.” Let’s just say the hype around Huff is real.
