Unlike Bronny, Bryce James Is Saving Millions for Billionaire LeBron James as Retirement Confirmation Emerges

It’s clear that LeBron James is creating somewhat of a dynasty in the sport. It’s not enough that people kiss posters of him before bed every night. He’s doing everything in his power to make sure his kids, Bronny and Bryce James, are the next big things in the NBA. For the longest time, Bronny’s been the frontrunner in the family. But the turn of the year kinda showed that Bryce might be the one showing more promise after all.

After his freshman year scare while playing for the Trojans, it finally does seem as if Junior has gotten his breakthrough. He’s played 23 games this season for the Lakers. If that wasn’t enough, it also fulfilled his father’s dream of making history more in the Association. They’re the first active father-son duo in the history of the NBA. He might’ve been carrying the nepotist tag throughout his life, but his resurgence over the last month or so has gotten everyone hopped on the bandwagon.

But as for Bryce James, his future just shows more potential due to his present. That’s aided by him winning the state championship aged 17 with Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles. On top of that, he agreed to play for the Wildcats earlier this year. That’s already more than his older brother Bronny could muster at the same age. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Bryce’s deal with the University of Arizona is a full-ride scholarship. According to US Sports Scholarships’ website“A 100% scholarship or ‘full ride’ covers the costs of tuition and fees, room and board, and textbooks, leaving only incidental costs to pay for the student-athlete. In this case, 100% of the costs are covered and it can be worth up to a staggering $400,000 over four years.” This means that the King could be saving a bucket load of money, for an ROI that could see his talented younger son also play in the league. It doesn’t really makes much of a difference considering the King was the first ever billionaire in the sport, but every little bit helps.

Sierra Canyon’s Bryce James (5), the son of NBA player LeBron James, stands with his teammates by the bench before the game between Sierra Canyon and Bartlett High School during Memphis Hoopfest in Eads, Tenn., on Friday, January 3, 2025.

This does kind of overshadow Bronny’s achievements in his career. The media might make it look like he’ll be playing with a giant chip on his shoulder. Yes, I’m looking at you, Stephen A. Smith. But that big brother mentality will kick in. When the opportunity comes for Bryce to play in the majors, Bronny will be there to welcome his brother with open arms.

LeBron James gives clarity on retirement stance

The fact that his sons being old enough to play in the league should be an indicator—our King is closer to retirement than we thought. His numbers being as staggering as they are—they still aren’t like the glory days. Well in a recent interview with Pat McAfee, Bron shed light on this exact topic.

“I mean I’ve done this for a long time. Now you get to top of the roller coaster, and ‘okay, when does this [go over]’ and I understand that. I am all about the process. And if it gets to the point where I don’t feel like showing up 5 hours in advance, or I don’t feel like training… like when it gets to that point… [you know it’s over].” Where’s the tissue box when I need it the most?

It’s no secret that LBJ’s superpowers have an expiry date. But his comments on even thinking about those days confirms it to people that the day is coming sooner than anyone thinks. For what it’s worth—there wasn’t, isn’t, or ever will be anyone like him.

Regardless of the retirement topic, Bron is making sure his kids Bronny and Bryce James carry forward his legacy. It might be early days, but still worth asking—which team do you think will be the first to snap up young Bryce when the time comes?
