The first piece of silverware this season is officially up for grabs. The WNBA’s version of the in-season tournament–the Commissioner’s Cup has reached its final stage. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will go head to head against the defending champions, the Napheesa Collier-led Minnesota Lynx. The match is scheduled for July 1 at 8 p.m. ET at the Target Center in Minnesota. As excitement builds for the highly anticipated game, a potential threat looms over the bright Indy Sky. One that won’t please the Fever fans.
Caitlin Clark has faced her fair share of injury troubles this season. It all started when she sat out the Fever’s first preseason game against the Mystics due to a leg issue. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. A quadriceps strain would later sideline her for over two weeks of regular-season action. Not ideal for someone who, up until that point, was known for her durability. But more bad news was on the way, according to some fans.
One user of X, going by the name of cc akgae(@clrkszn), noticed something that created a wave of tension among the Fever faithful. In Clark’s second game back against the Sun, she was seen with tape on her quadriceps. However, in the game against the Liberty, she wasn’t. A sign of concern? Well, this piece of evidence definitely has fans worried. All have the same kind of questions. Is Clark okay? Is she battling the same injury?
so caitlin’s quad was not taped up during the new york game but it was taped up against the sun…. why….. chat should i crash out pic.twitter.com/MK38UDkdzR

Clark has been in phenomenal form since coming back. She has scored 52 points, 15 assists, and 9 rebounds in the two games since coming back. Her performances have helped the Fever win 2 games in a row for only the second time this season. Now, with a silverware in line, watching Clark all taped up can be really worrying, but is there anything to be worried about?
Well, it could very well be just a precaution. Taping the quadriceps helps support the muscle and relieve any lingering discomfort. It’s often used to reduce strain, improve blood flow, and ease pain in the affected area. So while it may look concerning, it might simply be part of her recovery routine to stay sharp and avoid any setbacks. So there’s nothing to worry, Fever fans! Just yet!
For now, though, Caitlin will continue to play without any minutes restrictions. Up next? A match against the Golden State Valkyries. Can the Fever continue their good run of form and win against Golden State? Let’s break it down!
Can Caitlin Clark and co beat the Valkyries to keep their winning streak alive?
The Golden State Valkyries enter this match on the back of a concerning 71–80 loss to the league’s worst-ranked team–the Dallas Wings. And that’s despite Monique Billings putting up a solid 17-point effort. To add to their troubles, the Valkyries are without Tami Fegbenle, Cecilia Zandalasini, and Janelle Salaun, all of whom are away on EuroBasket duty.
Of course, the Fever are riding high in confidence. They have won back-to-back games and are aiming for their third in a row, as said above. All eyes will be on Caitlin Clark as she goes head-to-head with her former Iowa backcourt partner, Kate Martin. But make no mistake: even without DeWanna Bonner, Indiana looks like the clear favorite heading into this contest.
That’s exactly what ESPN thinks as well. They have given the Fever a 62% chance of walking away from the Chase Center with a win. Do you guys agree with their prediction? Who do you think wins this contest? Will the Chase Center crowd prove to be the difference for the Valkyries? Or will Clark show her class again? Let us know down in the comments.
