“He still has a long way to go on his road to recovery,” Courtney Laughlin told Washington Capitals fans after her father’s successful heart surgery. Yet, while Alex Ovechkin & C0. and the fans inside Capital One Arena rejoiced when PA announcer Byron Hudtloff gave them the good news, they knew it would take a while before Locker returned to the booth.
Now, finally after nearly two months since his heart surgery, Craig Laughlin of the beloved ‘Joe B. & Locker’ has dropped a massive update. “It’s been seven long weeks since my operation. I feel fantastic,” the 67-year-old announcer said while seemingly out for a walk. Laughlin’s iconic voice sounded better than as he set the stage for the most optimistic update as Ovechkin closed in on Gretzky’s record.
“Lots of working out, lots of heart rehab, and that means my return is right around the corner,” said Craig Laughlin. The veteran play-by-play announcer didn’t just stop at that. This time there were no vague timelines as the Laughlin dropped the exact date. “I can’t wait to get back in the boot Sunday against the buffalo sabers. I feel I’m ready,” said Laughlin.
