One of the biggest mysteries of the All-Star games was Jackie Young’s sudden exit. Just moments after the tip-off, she walked off the court and never returned, leaving fans confused and concerned. It was especially surprising since both Young and Kelsey Mitchell had just been bumped up to the starting lineup after injuries sidelined Caitlin Clark and Satou Sabally earlier in the day. So what really happened?
For those wondering what happened, Jackie Young’s All-Star appearance was cut short due to an injury she picked up just days earlier. In a game against the Dallas Wings, she slipped and collided with center Luisa Geiselsöder with 8:21 left on the clock. The collision looked bad, and Young didn’t return. While Becky Hammon initially labeled it a groin injury, the team later confirmed it was a right hip injury.
The timing couldn’t be worse for the Aces. Why? Because just one game before the injury, Young had one of her best performances this season, scoring 30 points on 11-14 shooting against the Valkyries. But things took a sharp turn against the Wings, where she managed just 2 points in 25 minutes. With the Aces sitting at an even 11-11 to start the season, Becky Hammon’s side might have to navigate through one more game without their star guard.
According to Review Journal reporter Callie Finn, Jackie Young is listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Atlanta Dream. She didn’t participate in the team’s first practice since the All-Star break, with Coach Becky Hammon confirming she’s being given some rest. Unless her status changes, Young will join Cheyenne Parker-Tyus on the injury list!
An update here: Jackie Young is listed as QUESTIONABLE on the injury report for tomorrow as the Aces host the Atlanta Dream.
Area cited is left hip, although Becky Hammon said following her fall vs. the Wings that it was a groin issue https://t.co/6ZUR2DgI3U

It goes without saying that Young is perhaps the most important Aces player after the reigning MVP A’ja Wilson. She is currently averaging 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4 assists, and is the second-highest scorer on the team. With Kelsey Plum no longer around to play Robin to A’ja’s Batman, losing your defensive weapon at such a pivotal moment in the season is a major setback for Las Vegas.
But on a personal level, this was a huge weekend for Jackie Young. She got to announce a major deal right before All-Star weekend and quickly became the talk of the town!
Jackie Young signs sneaker deal with Skechers
In a world dominated by Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour, Skechers is slowly positioning itself as the next big sneaker brand in basketball. With big-name acquisitions like Joel Embiid, Julius Randle, Rickea Jackson, and Kiki Iriafen already on board, there’s now one more major signing on the way!
Yes, just before the All-Star weekend, the brand announced that it had signed Jackie on a multi-year deal. “Joining the Skechers family feels like the perfect fit for me,” said Young. “Not only does Skechers truly support its athletes and share my passion for giving back and helping to advance women’s sports, but their basketball shoes are also incredibly comfortable.”
Young was seen rocking a custom Player’s Edition of the SKX NEXUS, with each shoe showcasing a unique design that celebrates her standout high school and college careers. Although we barely got to see her in action during the main event, rest assured, we’ll be seeing her lace up those kicks in upcoming games.
