What Happened to Jayson Tatum? Celtics Star Off Court After Nasty Landing

Tragedy strikes the Celtics! They headed into tonight’s Kings clash aiming to extend their five-game winning streak. And they did a solid job of maintaining the lead all night despite playing in enemy territory. But things took an unfortunate turn when a scary injury led to Jayson Tatum’s early exit from the game.

The incident occurred in the closing minutes of the third quarter. As the Boston team led by seven points, Tatum put the moves on Domantas Sabonis and rose for a deep step back three. Although the ball went through the net, JT landed awkwardly on Sabonis’ foot and tweaked his left ankle. Well, the Kings Center clearly stepped into Tatum’s landing space and was called for a shooting foul.

Visibly hurt after the play, the Celtics star immediately fell to the floor and began writhing in pain, favoring his left ankle. His teammates and staff immediately rushed to check on him. As he got up and began limping, it was clear that Tatum could not continue. But there was still the resulting free throw he needed to hit from the shooting foul. Taking a page out of his idol Kobe Bryant’s book, Tatum made the free throws and headed straight to the locker room.
