‘What Is Happening?’: Gymnastics Community Frustrated As Two More Stars’ Fate Met With Gruesome Injuries

Falls. Injuries. Backouts. If there is one pattern that has been constant this gymnastics season, it is this. It’s almost like every time an athlete leaps up in the air, the audience’s heartbeat shoots up. Will they land perfectly or won’t they? This question has probably started haunting the fans. No wonder, as soon as the latest update about two more gymnasts scratching from the 2025 season surfaced, gymnastics fans voiced a concerning observation. And what is that?

Well, the number of leg injuries that have happened to gymnasts this season will sound unbelievable to most. Just this week, a tragedy occured in the British elite gymnastics tent, when Charlotte Booth had to end her elite career after a nasty fall on the floor at the World Cup in Germany. Booth ended up rupturing her Achilles, which added another gymnast to the bunch of those injured this season. But one commonality in most cases? Well, they all have had leg injuries! And, now another male gymnast joins them.

On March 1, news broke out about the German gymnast, Pascal Brendel’s foot injury. As per the Instagram update, Brendel fell on the horizontal bar during training last week and broke a metatarsal bone. Due to this, he will have to take a break for several months until he recovers and will not be able to take part in the European Gymnastics Championships in Leipzig.
