After winning a Super Bowl in just his sophomore year, Wagner carved out a mammoth career for himself, consistently earning All-Pro and Pro-Bowler accolades even at the age of 35. However, every athlete has to prepare for life after the game, and the Seattle legend is no exception. Though Bobby Wagner has earned tens of millions of dollars through his career, there have been way too many cases of athletes going broke for him to sit idle.
After all, you would much rather be a Junior Bridgeman than a Delonte West, wouldn’t you? It looks like Wagner has made the right choice, as the six-foot-tall linebacker has started investing like nobody’s business. Aside from real estate and his stake in FUSE Venture, Bobby Wagner recently joined the Seattle Storm ownership group in a bold move from the young entrepreneur!
It’s safe to say that this idea could’ve emerged after Wagner had a productive conversation with Hall of Famer and five-time NBA Champion Magic Johnson last year. After their lunch, the Magic Man had nothing but praise for the Commanders’ linebacker.

Wagner is part of the rare minority of athletes who think about the future. He knows that fame and the spotlight aren’t endless, and that one day, he will need some other source of income. After all, you don’t have a thirteen-year-long career in the NFL, with 1300+ tackles and 35 sacks without good intelligence and acumen.
However, the way that Bobby Wagner is going about it is quite smart–he’s investing in the things he loves. The six-foot-tall NFL star has a stake in companies like Tonal, Therabody, and Body Armour, things that he has lived, breathed, and used! And now? He has found himself in the realm of basketball, a sport that he has loved for decades.
“It’s an honor to join the Seattle Storm ownership group and support a franchise that has consistently set the standard in women’s professional sports,” he said in a statement. “I’m really excited to be able to be a part of the growth and stay connected to a community that I still love.”
The Storm ownership group comprising of businesswomen Dawn Trudeau, Ginny Gilder and Lisa Brummel, has sold minority stakes thrice over the past couple of years. And it hasn’t been all for nothing. It has helped finance their Center for Basketball Performance, funded their practice facility, and brought up a record $151 million valuation. So you know Wagner’s headed in the right direction. And the team this year, is also pulling out receipts to show for it.
Seattle Storm are giving Bobby Wagner reasons to trust
After making the playoffs 8 times in the past ten years, the Seattle Storm are looking every bit on track to make that 9 out of 10. This was team that was nearly dismissed after Jewel Loyd’s trade, veteran core, and injury troubles. But the Emerald City players are not giving up.
Heading into the All-Star weekend, the Storm were 4-2 against the top three teams. On offense, they were dishing second league-best 21.7 assists per game and shooting 35.7% from beyond the arc. “Hell yeah, I feel confident. Did you see our roster?” Skylar Diggins had said entering the season, and they have remained so after a 14-10 record, placing them 4th on the table. And let’s just say they have nearly cracked the code.
“Not care about the environment, not care who’s in front of us… But when we focus on ourselves and what we can do, it doesn’t matter,” Gabby Williams had expressed after a win over a roster like New York’s. With Skylar leading the offense, Williams managing both ends of the floor, and rookie Dominique Malonga putting in great minutes when needed, coach Noelle Quinn is confident. It is the foundation and chemistry she is banking on, and so is Bobby Wagner.
