Who Is Azzi Fudd’s Biological Father? Addressing the Rumors Around UConn Star’s Foster Upbringing

Named after WNBA legend Jennifer Azzi, Azzi Fudd is the explosive guard lighting it up for the UConn Huskies. She’s been a star whenever her team needed her even after coming back from a grueling injury this season. She is a walking highlight reel. A benchmark on the court. And when you look at the family she comes from, it all starts to make a lot of sense.

She grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, in a household that doesn’t just like basketball—it lives, breathes, eats, and dreams it. Her parents didn’t just dabble in the sport. This game gave them everything: support, purpose, and a whole lifestyle. So, with all the talk and random rumors, there is question out there: is Azzi’s biological father someone else?

Azzi Fudd’s biological father: Everything to know about Tim Fudd

The answer is no. No mystery here. Azzi was born to Katie and Tim Fudd on November 11, 2002, and they’ve been her biggest supporters since day one. And they have had the most amazing and funny Love & Basketball story.

The couple met while coaching at The Potomac School, and their chemistry was pure hoops magic. Katie (then Smrcka-Duffy) was the ACC Rookie of the Year at NC State, later starred at Georgetown, and got drafted by the WNBA’s Sacramento Monarchs. Tim? He balled out at American University, putting up 16.1 points a game his senior year.

And the fact that they got married on a basketball court.  Why? Because they needed a venue fast, and since Katie grew up Catholic and they were already renting St. Joseph’s Catholic School gym for training, they figured, why not just get married there?

The gym cost $35 an hour. But there was one rule—no heels allowed on the hardwood. So the wedding invite literally read: “To show support of this union, the bride and groom ask that you wear athletic shoes to the wedding.” Iconic, right?

Developing Story…..
