“I’m a sportscaster who got lucky chasing his dreams. I fell in love with disc golf along the way.” Providing a humble description of himself, Adam has surely learned a lot from his late mentor and CBS legend, Greg Gumbel, whom he succeeds as host of the CBS March Madness Studio Show. Adam started his journey as a sports broadcaster at Syracuse and has had deep admiration for him ever since. “It’s still so weird because I was in school at Syracuse, waiting for Greg Gumbel to come on,” he said, reflecting on replacing Greg.
Adam has since built his legacy with a sports broadcasting career spanning over 26 years! Currently, the lead anchor and arguably the face of CBS Sports Network, hosting various studio shows including Inside College Football and Inside College Basketball. While Adam covers everything from football to basketball to lacrosse all year long, his off-season arrives in the summer, a time when he can truly connect with his family.
Who is Adam Zucker married to? How long has he been married?
Adam has been married to Rachel Zucker for at least a decade and a half. Rachel also studied broadcast journalism at Syracuse University. She graduated in 2000, 2 years after Mark did, but fate had them cross paths in Scranton. After Adam was laid off from his first job, one that he was delighted to be working, a friend offered him a job in Scranton. Adam loves New Jersey, so an opportunity to move closer to home made the offer even better.
Reflecting on the same, he later shared, “I met my wife out there. She’s in the business. She was a reporter and a producer, but not someone on the news side who would travel. As we got very serious, she said to me, “Do you want to be one of these guys who travels around? Because I don’t want to be married to one of those.” I’d rather lose my job than lose my wife”.
A crucial part of his life, Adam keeps his Fridays reserved for Mrs. Zucker, ensuring his wife doesn’t feel like she’s married to one of the guys who travels around. “Most Friday nights my wife and I try to make plans to have some time to ourselves. Whether it’s something at our temple, going out with friends or go see a movie. Take a moment and act like we don’t have kids.” The couple also plays tennis on Sunday mornings while the kids are away at Sunday school.
Do Adam and Rachel Zucker have kids together?
Adam and Rachel have two children. Their daughter, Sophie, is 12 years old while their son, Max, is 15. While he manages a very tight schedule, Adam attempts to spend as much time with his family as possible, even driving back down to New Jersey at times just to see his kids for 10 minutes before he heads back to New York. A sweet gesture, but one that isn’t sustainable. Adam understands, hence, he likes to keep his Sundays reserved for family.
Max also shares his parents’ love for sports; ever since he was 8, he’d wanted to join Adam while he was working. He would also convince his dad to watch the NFL with him, usually on Sunday afternoons when the family was together. Adam surely appreciates his kids’ interest in his work. Growing up watching the Dream Team, Adam felt star-struck meeting legends like Charles Barkley and Greg Gumbel, but it was the moment when his kids interacted with them that he labeled as one he’d never forget.
“I’ll never forget bringing my wife and kids into the studio several years ago, and for my son and my daughter to meet Greg Gumbel, who to me has always defined the tournament, for them to meet Charles Barkley, who’s such a kick”.
Where do Adam and Rachel Zucker live?
Adam and Rachel live in the New York City area. Adam records his shows from CBS’ NYC broadcast center. However, he can be seen spending his off-season relaxing at the Jersey Shore or enjoying quality time with the family at the Stirling Hotel.
