The Cameron Crazies, never one to let a rivalry moment slip, erupted into chants of “Deja Kelly.” Love, who finished the first half with six free throws (making five), had heard plenty of noise before—but this was personal.
The chants weren’t just random taunts; they cut deep. Even Caleb’s former team UNC’s official X account chimed in, mocking Duke’s double standard: “duke fans: UNC fans are weird for cheering for Caleb Love, he left two years ago. Also duke fans: chanting Deja Kelly at him.”
Another spectator couldn’t help but admire the audacity, posting, “Duke student section chanting Deja Kelly when Love at the free throw line. Gotta love it.”
The reason behind the chant? A rumored love triangle involving Love, his former UNC teammate RJ Davis, and North Carolina women’s basketball player Deja Kelly. Although Love and Davis have both publicly denied any rift, the speculation has only intensified over time.
