Why Isn’t Jayson Tatum Playing Tonight? Celtics Star Misses Out Knicks Game 6 Through Injury

The Boston Celtics are fighting to keep their season alive in Game 6 against the New York Knicks, but they’re doing it without Jayson Tatum. The Celtics star is sidelined after undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon, an injury that could keep him out for up to nine months. As the game unfolds at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks hold a 26-20 lead at the end of the first quarter and are looking to close out the series, which they currently lead 3-2.

Without Tatum, Boston is relying heavily on Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis to carry the load. Porzingis is active and expected to play a key role as the Celtics aim to force a decisive Game 7.

NBA insider Shams Charania recently shared that Tatum remains “very communicative” with teammates and even visited them in New York ahead of Game 6. As he begins a long rehab process, Tatum is reportedly turning to Kevin Durant, who overcame a similar injury, for guidance and motivation.

The Celtics showed they could win without Tatum in Game 5. Now, they’re trying to do it again, but the Knicks are making that task anything but easy.

(Hang in there as we bring more…)
