Will Andrew Wiggins Play Tonight vs Grizzlies? Heat Face Major Injury Concern in Back-to-Back Games

The buzz around Miami is worth experiencing right now for sure. Their fans took the 1500-mile trip to the TD Garden to witness a surprising win over the reigning champs, Boston Celtics. The Greens were on their own winning run of 9 games. But it seems like the team that wanted it more won it. What’s surprising is the Heat getting it over the line without their star forward, Andrew Wiggins.

The Celtics game was Wiggins’ third game out on the bounce. It doesn’t seem to be the worst thing for Miami though, as they’ve been scoring for fun without him. But his fitness will be key for their play-ins run in with 6 games to go in the season. Will we see Wiggins return tonight against a struggling Grizzlies side?

Heat injury report ahead of Grizzlies game

They lost the last game out against Memphis, back when Taylor Jenkins was still the head coach. It was a pretty dominant win for the Home of the Blues, winning 125-91 at the Kaseya Center 2 weeks ago. That was a poor game for Wiggins though, just trumping up 8 points and 1 assist in 22 minutes. It must’ve felt off for him though, considering he usually averages around 16 points against the Grizz, shooting 46% from the field.

But he’s not played since March 27th due to tendinopathy in his right hamstring. HC Erik Spoelstra did speak on his progress before the Celtics game when he said, “I don’t have any timetable on it. But he’s definitely making some progress.” According to ESPN, he’s out for tonight. Guess the progress wasn’t enough to justify minutes tonight. Nikola Jovic’s absence stretches to 11 games since fracturing his right hand, leaving Miami thin in the frontcourt.

But he’s not the only confirmed absentee in the Heat squad. As Nikola Jovic, Kevin Love, and Duncan Robinson are out due to injuries. Jovic hasn’t played since February 23rd due to a fractured second metacarpal on his right hand. He was cleared for on-court work after bypassing a surgery. But he’s not cleared for tonight.

Meanwhile, Love is out for personal reasons, which makes it 4 absences in a row. The veteran forward has just played 23 games this season, citing a multitude of reasons that vary from personal reasons, injuries, and a shift in role in the team.

Heat predicted lineup vs Grizzlies

Their record of 3-7 in the last 10 home games might make them second fiddle to winning tonight. The players obviously made the same 1500-mile trip to and from Boston, which could have an effect despite their slight rest advantage over Memphis. They don’t even have guard Dru Smith, who they lost in December to a surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon. Considering that, let’s take a look at their predicted lineup against the Grizzlies tonight:

Point Guard
Tyler Herro

Shooting Guard
Davion Mitchell

Small Forward
Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Power Forward
Kyle Anderson

Center
Bam Adebayo

The Grizzlies have a near-perfect injury report, with only 3 players confirmed to be out. But with Heat’s impressive form, they look to be better off to come out of the Kaseya with a dub tonight. Who do you think will come out victorious?
