Shilo Sanders is all set to sail the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ rookie mini-camp. After a tumultuous year at Boulder and a subsequent slump in the NFL stock, the middle son of Coach Prime couldn’t bag his spot on the NFL draft pick. No team would consider taking the safety who came fresh off a season riddled with penalties, injuries, and controversies. Anti-Deion Sanders‘ narrative is just the fuel to the fire. So, it was upsetting for the Sanders but not shocking. However, Shilo is still nurturing his NFL dream. Thanks to an undrafted free-agent contract with the Bucs. He doesn’t fear the thin room and tough competition out there to emerge as a franchise player. Heck, he would rather fear taking his dad to Florida for a hilarious reason.
It’s going to be a bittersweet week for the former Colorado safety. He’s bidding goodbye to Boulder, packing his bags for a land where he’s never been before. This expedition will give Shilo an excellent early chance to escalate his image in Tampa Bay. Shilo starts from a place where he doesn’t have anything to lose. He has already faced a lot of tough scrutiny over his career over the past few months. Unlike his brother Shedeur, his 67 total tackles (44 solo), two TFLs, remain in the shadow. Rather, his poor coverage skills and tracking ability, and other loopholes, have been a major storyline throughout the season.
So, Shilo is used to flying under the radar. But in Tampa, he not only looks to reverse the script, but also has a legitimate scope for that. The team is currently going thin at safety with Jordan Whitehead falling victim to a car crash injury. A good corner for Shilo to sneak into. It is the kind of break every underdog dreams of. However, one thing he gives up in the new city is his zeal for fishing, which he inherited from his dad. Shilo is not quite confident about letting his dad mess with the fishes, and the reason might leave you rolling on the floor.
Before kick-starting a new chapter in his career, the Colorado Safety unwinds in a blithe mood. “No, I am not fishing in Tampa, I will never go fishing anywhere in Florida. I am not fishing anywhere in Florida,” Shilo Sanders said in his live stream, “Mess around and take my dad fishing, that alligator’s gonna take the rest of his toes.”
While Shilo presented his care and concern for his dad wrapped in humor, fishing in Florida can’t be a joke. Sure, the Florida beaches are world famous as a very appealing fishing heaven for those who love. But that doesn’t mean it’s safe. The number of alligators across their land and water is truly hair-raising. But it’s more so for Coach Prime. The Colorado head coach had two of his toes in his left foot amputated a few years back due to a blood circulation complication. So, he’s since left with just eight toes, and Shilo doesn’t want to take a further risk. However, Deion Sanders’ fishing disaster doesn’t end here.
Deion Sanders has had a flurry of misadventures while fishing
Sanders’ passion for a lazy afternoon and some crazy bassin’ is not a secret to the college football world. Coach Prime used to be so invested in his hobby that he once thought he could have become a professional fisherman in the 90s. Eventually, football got in their way. But deep down, Deion still nurtures the memory of his father teaching him the basics of fishing.
“My stepfather taught me with a cane pole,” Coach Prime reminisces about a golden memory. “We used to go in these little lakes and these little creeks in Fort Myers, Florida, to catch the bluegill, sheepshead, and whatever would bite.”

Not all of Coach Prime’s fishing tales end in tranquility. The Same got him into some deep water back in 1996. He was arrested and charged with a hefty fine for trespassing after fishing in a secluded lake near the Fort Myers Airport. But that’s not the end of his misery near the waterside. Fast forward to 2020, he took Antonio Brown, the Steelers receiver, for a fishing date that went very wrong. A fishing hook hit Brown’s toe.
Brown still holds the grudge for the events, saying how painfully Deion took that out later. The worst part is that he has never even asked Brown once about how his foot’s doing, adding another fresh layer of the infamous Brown-Sanders feud.
