Are massive corporations evil? This question has been debated for a couple of centuries now, especially since the dawn of private ownership, post the Industrial Revolution. Depending on whom you ask, you might get multitude of answers. But what does Joe Rogan think? In an old episode of JRE (#2016) featuring businessman and podcaster, Patrick Bet-David, Rogan agreed that Larry Fink’s BlackRock is an evil entity. When he was asked by Elon Musk about his thoughts on BlackRock, the comedian and podcaster gave a rather interesting reply.
Elon Musk made his sixth appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience this last week. In the podcast, the conversation about one of Trump’s assassins Ryan Routh came up—who allegedly appeared in a commercial for BlackRock. When Rogan brought this up, Musk asked him, “Do you think BlackRock’s a bad company?”
This time, the UFC commentator and podcaster was a lot more diplomatic in his answer. He said, “I don’t think any company is a bad company. I think they are designed to make as much money as humanly possible. And, I think if you are trying to make as much money as humanly possible. You are gonna do some things that aren’t necessarily good.”
Joe Rogan might have brought that up to give further credence to his previously held beliefs (as seen in the conversation with Bet-David) that BlackRock—a multi-billion dollar, multinational investment firm—is indeed an evil entity. However, given that his close friend is the richest man in the world, Rogan might have found the need to tiptoe around the subject.

With $11.6 trillion in assets under management, BlackRock is one of the most powerful entities in the world today. The multibillion-dollar company extends its influence into the boardrooms of major corporations, including Apple, Meta, and even Elon Musk’s Tesla. Interestingly, BlackRock is one of Tesla’s largest institutional investors, holding a 6.1% stake in the company. So makes sense for Rogan to be diplomatic in his answer about the investment firm.
Lately, a lot of questions have been raised about Elon Musk himself, and how he’s tied the tech world to conservative politics. Like other billionaires, the richest man in the world has an origin story. And he first shot to fame for being associated with Tesla and the EV revolution. But how did he manage to take Tesla to where it is today? Let’s hear from the tech mogul himself.
Elon Musk dropped the Tesla origin story infornt of Joe Rogan
During the podcast, Elon Musk reflected on his involvement in Tesla’s beginnings and how the company, now valued at $918 billion, was built from the ground up. Joe Rogan asked a rather interesting question to the tech billionaire, the podcaster emphasized that Musk merely facilitated the launch of a pre-existing model into the market or this is what many people think about the Tesla CEO.
Musk clarified, “Most of the time, I create businesses from scratch. Twitter was a case when bought, I kinda knew was like a hairball.” Rogan further added, “When you came into Tesla, they were already doing something right?” Answering the question without any hesitation, Musk replied, “No, Tesla didn’t exist in any meaningful form. There were no employees. JV and I joined three other people. There was no car, no nothing.”
Over the years, many have concluded that Elon Musk is actually not the founding member of tech giants such as PayPal, Tesla, and SpaceX. Critics argue that while he is undeniably a shrewd businessman, he was not directly responsible for developing the core products and services of the companies he led. However, according to Musk that’s all hoax. Well, we have no idea what’s the truth but one thing is certain and that’s the fact that Elon Musk’s Tesla is being battered in the stock market.
