Women’s golf has long fought for the recognition it deserves, but the gap between the LPGA and PGA Tour remains glaring. On one side, the PGA Tour has mastered the art of storytelling—turning players like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Jordan Spieth into global icons. Their wins, struggles, and rivalries are captured in real-time, amplified by extensive media coverage and hit shows like Full Swing.
Meanwhile, LPGA stars often fade into the background, not because of talent but due to a lack of exposure. While initiatives like the Drive On campaign have pushed for change, the LPGA still needs stronger media presence and sponsorship support to truly elevate its players. Until then, the fight for equal recognition continues. However, there might be a change for the 75th season, as suggested by Lydia Ko.
During the post-round presser of the Ford Championship, she was asked to give out a few words of motivation for women who will be playing in the 100th season. To that, she replied, “We have a lot of junior golfers that are out here watching us this week. Just keep focusing on your game and just have fun, sometimes it’s not going to be an easy ride, but if you enjoy it, I think your time will come. So I’m excited to root you on from afar.”
This is a developing story..
